IBM PowerVC Workshop

Overview
This course provides the technical skills required to plan, install, configure, and administer IBM PowerVC in an IBM Power private cloud environment. Through instructor-led discussions and hands-on labs, students work with PowerVC architecture, HMC-managed and PowerVM NovaLink-managed hosts, virtual machines, images, deploy templates, storage, networks, projects, users, and policies.
Students install and configure PowerVC and NovaLink, integrate managed hosts, provision virtual machines, and perform common cloud administration tasks in a live lab environment. Upon successful completion, students can manage Infrastructure-as-a-Service capabilities for IBM PowerVM-based systems and earn an IBM digital badge recognizing the skills developed in the course.
Audience
This course is open to all interested learners, regardless of their experience. Typical students include customers, IBM technical personnel, business partner technical personnel, and IT engineers and architects.
Prerequisites
Students must already know the basics of configuring and managing a virtual I/O server and virtual devices as well as know how to use the HMC to manage partitions. This prerequisite can be met by attending the following course:

Objective
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Analyze IBM PowerVC architecture, OpenStack integration, key features, and benefits
- Evaluate IBM PowerVC planning requirements for compute, storage, networking, security, and performance
- Implement IBM PowerVC installation, upgrade, configuration, and resource registration
- Demonstrate IBM PowerVC graphical and command-line administration tasks
- Administer users, projects, roles, images, virtual machines, storage, networks, logs, backup and restore, and placement policies
- Analyze cloud computing concepts and how they apply to IBM PowerVC private and hybrid cloud environments
- Manage virtual machine images, deployments, lifecycle operations, and cloud-init requirements
- Analyze, plan, install, and integrate IBM PowerVM NovaLink with IBM PowerVC
